Greetings, Pre-Collegiate Network!
On behalf of CERRA’s Board of Directors, staff, and the conference planning committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2021 Pre-Collegiate Fall Renewal Conference! We are elated that you have joined us in Myrtle Beach, SC for our annual professional development forum. This conference is devoted to focusing on best practices to promote homegrown teacher recruitment programs, elevate the teaching profession, assess the changes and trends in education today, examine changes outlined in school/education reform, and impact student achievement.
The vision of college of education deans, who comprised the 1984 Task Force on Teacher Recruitment, paved the way for the creation of a continuum of CERRA programs aimed at recruiting, retaining, and advancing the education profession. It also blazed the trail for SC’s collaboration with 40 states to join efforts in offering “homegrown” pre-collegiate teacher recruitment programs across the United States. To our colleagues in Colorado, Michigan, and Virginia who have joined us at the conference this year, thank you for continuing to partner with us and growing exemplary teachers for our profession!
Our conference theme is Education: The Greatest "EXPERIENCE" on Earth, and our time together has been designed to offer opportunities for you to learn, network, and share ideas and resources to enhance initiatives among our programs. This year’s conference features an actual carnival with fun games and fair food, a national Pre-Collegiate Town Hall, and a keynote address by the 2022 South Carolina Teacher of the Year and Teacher Cadet instructor, Mrs. Amy Carter! There are also a plethora of concurrent sharing sessions;” a Silent Auction to benefit the Ken Bower Teacher Cadet Scholarships and the Teacher Cadet National Honor Society Scholarship; The Bower Cup competition; a ceremony honoring veteran pre-collegiate instructors and College Partners; and a celebration of our programs' impact on our state and nation.
By including a variety of topics and sessions, the conference's agenda is specifically designed to help you enhance your role in CERRA’s continuum of program offerings, directly impact the students with whom you work, and reinvigorate your passion to teach, support, and inspire our future educators. To each of our ProTeam teachers, Teacher Cadet instructors, and College Partners, both in-state and out-of-state, thank you so much for attending our conference and for all that you do, daily, to positively influence education across the United States; you are truly our greatest asset today and tomorrow, and we could not accomplish what we do without your support and leadership. Throughout this conference, I ask you to stay engaged, keep us proactive, and help us shape the future of CERRA's pre-collegiate programs. Thanks for being here to make our 2021 Pre-Collegiate Fall Renewal Conference a success!
Sincerely,
Marcella Wine-Snyder, Ed.D.
